Professor Arindam Ghosh received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Calcutta University, India, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1983. He is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at I.I.T., Kanpur India.  He is interested in the broad areas of Control Systems, Power Systems and Power Electronics. In particular, his current research emphasis is in the modeling and control of power electronic based devices for power system application. Prof. Ghosh has held visiting positions at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (1992-93), University of Queensland, Brisbane (1993-94) and Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane (1999-2000). Currently he is visiting the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Fulbright Scholar. Recently he has published a book “Power Quality Enhancement Using Custom Power Devices.” (co-author G. Ledwich) published by Kluwer Academic Publishers (Boston ).
